There are so many examples of famous people in modern society who made the most of their life regardless of their age. We could fill blog after blog with these inspiring stories, but we’ll start with just a few familiar names you might not realize started their careers later in life.

Regardless of one’s lot in life (or their age), with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. Just take these examples as shining beacons of hope that enormous success can come at any age.

Samuel L. Jackson. We’ve all heard of the famous actor, but did you know Samuel L. Jackson was pretty much a Hollywood no-name until he landed the role in Jungle Fever that would change his career forever at the age of 43?

Sam Walton. Can you believe the scion of Wal-Mart himself didn’t start creating his family’s path to fortune until he was 44? It’s true!

Henry Ford. Millions of cars bearing his namesake grace the world’s roads, yet many would be surprised to hear that Henry Ford didn’t create his revolutionary first car until he was 45 years old.

Rodney Dangerfield. The crass comedian may be remembered as a legend, but you might not know that he didn’t catch his first big break until he was 46.

Charles Darwin. His “On the Origin of Species” didn’t change the scientific landscape as we know it until Darwin was 50.

Julia Child. The ubiquitous celebrity chef actually worked in advertising and media most of her life. She didn’t teach her first cooking class until the age of 39, and her world-renowned cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, was published when she was 49.
