A common question that first time franchisers have is, “When’s the best time to open my franchise?” Take a look below — the answer may surprise you.
The off season for your industry
A good time to open your franchise is during the industry’s off season. This will vary from industry to industry, so check with your franchisor. It may seem counterintuitive to open when your franchise is least likely to receive business. But there’s a reason why: You need to have a whole host of things in place for the big launch.
When your staff is trained
Any staff you hire is likely to need training to be the type of employee you want representing your franchise. If you’re trying to do that training at the same time you have hordes of customers, that’s a recipe for a customer service disaster!
When you have the right certificates
If you need any permits, certifications or other official documents to open, be sure to have them before you put out that “Welcome” sign. Trying to get paperwork in order when customers are banging down the door can be stressful – AND lead to legal trouble. Talk to your franchisor about exactly what official things are needed before you can get down to business.
